Thrashers Skate Park

Thrashers Skatepark in Garsfontein is calling out to those future Tony Hawks and Bam Margeras rolling around Pretoria during the school holidays.

This isn’t only a skate park – it is a piece of Pretoria’s history. It was built in 1996, making it one of South Africa’s oldest skate parks. Thrashers is a spectacular venue for skateboarding, rollerblading, BMX, roller derby, inline skating and much more of the sort.  This super cool skate park is a dream come true for those who love the various sports performed here. Here you’ll find many transition and street obstacles, including ledges, stairs, a funbox, pyramid, two quarter pipes and a death ramp.

It sure sounds like an excellent place to try out new tricks and perfect your technique.  It has recently been refurbished, so it’s better than ever. Grab your gear, gather your mates, and head down to Thrashers this holiday for a spot of fun. You may even make some more like-minded friends whilst you’re there.

The skate park does offer skateboarding and rollerblading lessons on Saturdays; these lessons are by appointment only. They also host competitions and events at the park, so be sure to check out what’s hot this upcoming holiday.

They can delight in the many pools and waterslides, the miniature train rides, trampolines, pedal boats, jungle gyms, the mini bike track (bring own bikes), and so much more.
