Describe Pretoria in a few words....
Friendly, vibey, underrated and absolutely beautiful.

What's your favorite places to hang out in Pretoria?
Menlyn Square, Bellbottom's.

You studied acting at the Tshwane University of Technology, would you recommend this University to young upcoming actors in Pretoria?
Back in the day, when I used to study at the Technicon, it was one of the top two drama-institutes in the country. My years at drama school were my most memorable years. We had such inspiring and talented lecturers, whom the students had major respect for, half the lecturers that taught there for years, have retired since. I believe that it is still one of the best drama schools in the country, because it is so practical.

People mostly recognize you for playing the troubled (drug addicted) characters on TV...do you get type cast a lot and do you like playing those characters?
No, I don't think I get type cast. I do think I get cast in those roles, ever so often because of 'Plek van die Vleisvreters'. It was my first professional job, and I played a troubled teenager with a drug addiction, maybe some producers and directors out there saw it, and kept me in the back of their minds when they casted for similar roles. I have played plenty of other roles, which are very far removed from the troubled ones. I do enjoy playing them though. It's such a complete opposite from my own reality, and that's what is so exciting about it. To really go and do thorough research, to explore how, what and why the character is so disturbed. I love it. I learn so much from it.

Some people don't even know about your incredible talent for comedy! Tell us about those funny characters you played at the State theatre...
Thanks. Yes, I absolutely love comedy. It comes more natural to me. It's always been one of my dreams to be in one of the popular farces that Pierre van Pletzen used to direct annually at the State Theatre, we used to go watch it every year when I was at drama school. And I was very fortunate to have been in two of them. I learnt how technical comedy can be. One thing about comedy, is you have to be willing to make an utter fool of yourself in front of an audience, otherwise, you might as well forget about it.

You worked with incredible people like Tobi Cronje and Hannes Muller what did you learn from them?
O, yes! What legends. I had to pinch myself every night just to remind myself that I was NOT dreaming, feel so lucky that I got to share the stage with such admirable thespians. We became good friends, they both are as incredible human beings as they are talented artists.

At the moment you are working on a new theatre production, tell us a bit about it...
I'm currently rehearsing for a play called 'Amper'. Its a Chris Vorster production, he wrote it, and he's the director. My co-actors are Ben Kruger and Hennie Jacobs. We'll open at the KKNK, and will tour with it. We will also have a run in Centurion. The play is about an alcoholic writer that's past his sell by date, and starting to kind of lose it. The characters in his new book become alive in his head and eventually save him from himself. It's an action comedy, a very physical play and such a pleasure to work on.

In real life, are theatre actor's mostly loud people that dress funny?
O yes! Of course! We all are. Didn't you know, all actors are over dramatic, loud and we wear table cloths when we go out!! No, that's a hell of a generalization. Yes, some are, and some are not. What I love most about being in this industry, are the people, yes some are more wild and wacky than others, but none of them ever judge. Any and everybody just get accepted. That's such a beautiful attribute to have.

You worked as a Pilates instructor in Pretoria for some time, why do you choose Pilates for exercise?
It was an impulsive decision really, I wanted to do something else in conjunction with my acting that was flexible, so I did a Pilates course. It tones your body and makes you strong. It can be both aerobic and anaerobic.

You are a SANBS ambassador in South Africa for donating blood. Why is it important to you?
If you can donate blood, you should! I think its only fair, what if you need it one day, but you never wanted to give it? It's so easy, and by donating blood you make such a big difference without even realizing it. I know a lot of people argue, that you give it away, and then it gets sold. But if you actually know the process the blood has to go through, all the tests etc, before a person can receive it, then you'll understand why it has to be sold.

If you could stay anywhere in Pretoria where would that be?
Lawley Street, Brooklyn. Love that street.
