Irene Dairy Farm Review

August 22, 2017

On the lush green Southern edge of Pretoria, lies Irene Dairy Farm. The farm has been a familiar landmark since 1889. It is still a fully operational dairy farm, but it has been expanded into a delightful family outing venue. With two restaurant options, The Deck and The Barn, you’re food choices stretch between snacks, confectionery and light meals, to an extensive buffet over the weekend. Order a gourmet picnic basket and enjoy the outstretched lawns. The basket is filled with scrumptious goodies – salads, roasted veggies, cold meats, quiche, biltong and droë wors, bread, brownies, scones – served at R85 p/p. A bottle of champagne can be also be added for further decadence. The baskets are available weekdays and weekends from 14:00. Let the kids bring their ball games and a bicycles to get rid of all the pent-up winter energy, while you relax on the lush green grass. The kids will be delighted with the interactive elements of watching while the cows are being milked and if you’re lucky there might be a few new calves to pat. Visit the Dairy Shop to stock up on some farm fresh products, such as the unique and luxurious thick cream. Locally produced curios and hand-made products will be a nice reminder to buy as a souvenir of the delightful experience.
