Winter has made its arrival and the cold is settling in. But don’t let the chilly weather keep you locked inside your home, all over the city restaurants boast with a cosy atmosphere thanks to a fireplace. Not only can you still enjoy gourmet meals, you can escape from the cold and enjoy a snug vibe.

We went on a fireplace hunt and want to share our finds with you.

First on the menu is Stephnie’s, situated in the newly opened Lynnwood Bridge mall. With its classic elegance and funky décor, you will feel like you have been transported to a European café. The fireplace has comfy couches placed around it where you can enjoy a good glass of wine or a delicious cup of coffee. A classic piano is a centre piece to the restaurant and soon you will be able to enjoy its soothing sounds as background a compliment. A fusion menu including Indian, Italian and South African dishes will not easily leave you bored. Owner Francesco has a hands-on approach and you will see him in his chef jacket bringing out meals to clientele and keeping an eye on quality control in the kitchen.

It’s the newest, trendiest hang-out spot to be seen at, Lynnwood Bridge.

Freshly opened last week, the restaurants are beckoning you to come explore – Café Beyritz, Col’Cacchio, Tribeca, Rhapsody's, Vishoek Restaurant and Stephnie's. A stylish piazza with an artistic fountain and sculptures, play host to these chic eateries. Other shops include Woolworths Food, Pro Shop, Safari & Outdoor, Graffiti Bookshop and a Planet Fitness gym. The star attraction is the state-of-the-art 450-seater, world-class “West-End” style Atterbury Theatre. Walking into the theatre and enjoying a show, you will not be disappointed. Equipped with cutting-edge technology, you will become part of the stage.

The theatre premieres with a uniquely South African musical, Stuur Groete, created from the beloved songs composed by Laurika Rauch. They are transformed into a drama set against the backdrop of a farm in the Camdeboo. This debut play is presented by Christopher Torr and Johan Badenhorst of “Voetspore” fame. Don’t miss out on this momentous play, hosted at the theatre till 17 July. Laurika Rauch is intertwined in the play as story-teller and other popular actors making their appearance in the show include Nicole Holm, Eben Genis and Ilse Klink.

Once a year you get the opportunity to set aside time to let your mom know how much she means to you.  Moms have the ability to just fade into the background of our lives while helping make things run smoothly.  We tend to forget what great a role they play in our lives!  So pause for a moment and reflect on how grateful you should be for her.  Without her you wouldn’t be here, literally...

Here are a few places you can consider taking her to for a spoil this week.  Make it a fun outing with the whole family, or book out some time in your schedule for a special one-on-one  treat.

Rosemary Hill
This is a spot for true country-style living in the big city, situated just 10 minutes drive from Pretoria East in the Boschkop area.  You will be greeted with a red-carpet welcome this Sunday at their High Tea event and be seated at a table decorated in true English tea party style.  For extra effect, choose from one of the fancy dress hats that are available and pretend to be a royal lady. (or if you’re a guy, just dress up gentlemanly for the outing!)  Treats that will be served include classic Cucumber Teapot sandwiches, smoked salmon and crème fraiche crumpets, a selection of Danish pastries and other delectable delights.  The tea will commence from 14:00 to 16:00, bookings essential.
