Music in the Gardens - Jack Parow
Tuesday, 05 June 2012 23:02
“Jy dink jy’s cooler as ekke…” Ever since Jack Parow appeared on the music scene in 2009, he’s made too many fans (and enemies) to count. We had the pleasure of seeing him in action, supported by the local band Black Cat Bones, at a great music initiative called Music in the Gardens.
The Old Mutual Music Series alternates every Sunday between the Pretoria National Botanical Gardens and the Walter Sisulu Gardens, from May till September. A delicious way of spending a winter Sunday afternoon, enjoying the outdoors with good music vibes – without getting scorched by a blistering sun!
The upcoming music acts range from rock, to funky Afrikaans, to pop (see below a list of the upcoming concerts, also keep an eye on our events guide to see who’s joining the main acts)
Although Jack Parow was not ideal for small ears, families can enjoy a lovely outing together. Play facilities are available for kids just behind the seating area. Bring along a camping chair and umbrella, or enjoy a shady spot on a blanket under the trees. Pack your own picnic lunch, or grab a bite at the food stalls. There are also two restaurant options in the Gardens – the Milkplum Café or the Mokha Lounge.
Gates open at 11:00 and the main concert gets underway between 14:00 and 15:00, with the supporting acts starting at 13:00.
Tickets available online at R80 per ticket from www.ticketbreak.co.za or R90 pre-concert bought directly from the Botanical Gardens. Or buy one at R100 on the day at the gates. Make sure to arrive early if you want to grab the best spots!
