012 Central: Multi-Space Precinct In The Heart Of Pretoria

012 Central is a multi-venue precinct in the heart of the Pretoria CBD. This City Property initiative is one of the creative driving forces behind the revamp of the CBD, and is growing to become a place in the city centre where the people of Tshwane can live, work and play. Here’s what 012 Central is all about…

The 012

Located at 385 Helen Joseph Street, The 012 is a historic shed-like building that can be used for anything from markets, parties, weddings, fashion shows, conferences to corporate functions and much more. Now the core venue of the entire district, it used to be a place where taxis were stored; despite being dirty, smelly and an overall undesirable place, the superb location (right across the road from the South African Reserve Bank) and immense potential of such a space couldn’t be overlooked. The 012 is an authentic reflection of a space that was much needed by the people of Pretoria and the facelift that the city centre is undergoing. The 012 is large enough to accommodate 1 200 people, and onsite parking, as well as at the State Theatre, is available.

012 Central Art Walk

Part of 012 Central’s mission is to provide a creative platform for commissioned public artworks that inspire and tell the stories of the people of 012 Central. The public installation art that can be viewed all over the entire precinct has been well received and the collection is set to expand in future. 012 Central’s art project operates on an event basis and a map of the art walk route is available online.

Bank Towers

Located at 190 Thabo Sehume (Andries) Street, Bank Towers is a premier roof top venue. Designed by Norman Eaton in the 1950’, Bank Towers boasts amazing views of the city and is an ideal space for cocktail functions, weddings, small music launches and more intimate occasions. Bank Towers can accommodate 120 people.

Located at 384 Madiba (Vermeulen) Street, Jardown was originally designed to be a tobacco distribution centre. This hangar-like building with its curved roof has great acoustics and is ideal for parties, weddings, fashion shows and corporate functions. Jardown can accommodate 900 people and onsite parking is available.

Located at 216 Sisulu (Prinsloo) Street, Prinschurch is a third-floor podium overlooking the State Theatre, Reserve Bank and Sammy Marks with a great view of the Union Buildings. This space is perfect for music events, art exhibitions, photo shoots and corporate functions. Prinschurch can accommodate up to 500 standing people.

012 Lofts

With vibrance and charm at the forefront of the expansion, 012 Lofts offer prospective vendors a blank canvas to create their own unique space. 012 Lofts are located at the heart of the entire 012 Central precinct and the vision is for these spaces to become the home base for creative offices, tech companies, production studios and artist collectives. Watch this space!
