72 Half Marathons In 72 Days – No Regrets
Planet Fitness is proud to partner with Morné Basson (aka ‘Treadmill Guy’) for a good cause. Basson is set to smash a Guinness World Record by running 72 consecutive half marathons with the aim of raising awareness for those suffering from Motor Neuron Disease.
What Is It?
Morné Basson is known for taking part in crazy challenges to shine a spotlight on degenerative illnesses. Basson’s journey to the world record started at Planet Fitness Olympus on 15 July 2019. Now he’ll be running every day for 72 days at different Planet Fitness branches in Pretoria, Johannesburg, KZN and Cape Town, finally making it back to Olympus on 24 September. All this in hopes of beating the current half marathon record of 52.
Planet Fitness members are encouraged to show their support and to go take a shot at keeping up with Basson while he is competing at the different gyms. He is also throwing down the gauntlet to the media to join him in his quest to raise awareness about Motor Neuron Disease, under the hashtag #goingblue4u – blue is the international colour for MND.
